Resolving for 2009

Since Gayle did it, I might as well too. Resolutions for 2009, which I hope to keep at least some of:
  • Lose ten pounds before Kristy's wedding in July. Preferably 20.
  • Exercise better. Not necessarily more, just better and get more out of it. That means no more talking to Gayle during padwork.
  • Take deadlines more seriously. Less procrastination.
  • Send a story off to a SFWA-approved publishing outfit
  • Purge. Purge the books, purge the clothes. Get ready for the potential (hopeful) move.
  • Write 250k words. That boils down to about 20k a month. I can do it. I've done weirder, like that one day where I wrote 18k…
  • Try to be less negative. Think more positively. Don't nag so much, don't whine so much. Accept that some people, including friends you love dearly, can be dumbasses sometimes and just let it go.
  • Get into a PhD program.
I know some of these are weighty resolutions, but I really do need to start thinking more positively and taking more responsibility for my own life. I've seem my own work suffer because of my slacking off, and it's really not fair to myself or others (or whatever). So, this is the new leaf I'm turning over. Out with the bad, in with the good, for better or worse.

Happy Holidays from Formerly Temporary Kiwis!

May your days be merry and bright.

And may all your Christmases be white.

Holidays are almost here

Shopping is done, except for some little last-minute stocking stuffers.

Cards are mailed. You should get one soon.

Gifts are mailed. Hopefully your presents won't get lost with our Japan box.

Two Christmas parties down, two to go. And the actual holiday itself.

And Southern California has finally entered winter. 62 degrees, with rain yesterday and rain forecast for next week, and the usual slowdown on the freeways because Angelinos can't deal with water falling from the sky.

The apartment smells like cinnamon pinecones and evergreen trees.

I love Christmas.

Let it snow...

Yes, Gayle, I will need all those hats and scarves and gloves I packed...

It's kind of stopped snowing, though there's been a steady downfall since we woke up around 10ish.

I forgot how pretty snow can be.
